Quote to Ponder

Here is what she shared with me in her devotional from Fr. Thomas Keating. I will let you be the judge whether this provides a good mirror for you to remember who you are in Christ: God’s will for us is to manifest God’s goodness and infinite tenderness in our lives right now. Christian tradition is not merely a handing on of various doctrines and rituals. It is the handing on of “the experience of the living Christ,” revealed in the scripture, preserved in the sacraments, and received in every act of prayer, and present in a special way in the major events of our lives. If we are open and available to this presence, our lives will be transformed. The spiritual journey is a struggle to be ever more available to God and to let go of the obstacles to that transforming process. The gospel is not merely an invitation to be a better person. It is an invitation to become divine. It invites us to share the interior life of the Trinity.
— Be Transformed, pgs 158-159
To be sure, it was not Easter Sunday but Holy Saturday, but, the more I reflect on it, the more this seems to be fitting for the nature of our human life: we are still awaiting Easter; we are not yet standing in the full light but walking toward it full of trust.
— Pope Benedict XVI
Faith in the resurrection of Jesus says that there is a future for every human being; the cry for unending life which is a part of the person is indeed answered… God exists: that is the real message of Easter. Anyone who even begins to grasp what this means also knows what it means to be redeemed.
— Pope Benedict XVI

Scripture for Lectio Divina

His divine power has bestowed on us everything that makes for life and devotion
— 2 Peter 1:3
